If you like to work out at home the Ab Rocket is a good choice as it is simple to use and easy to store and, together with some aerobic exercise and a calorie counted diet will help you get those beautiful sleek toned abs that you’ve always dreamed of but thought could never be yours.
What we actually think of as the abs is made up of a collection of muscles forming a cylinder with a closed top and bottom a bit like a drum – this is your core- at the bottom is your pelvic floor, and at the top is your diaphragm, while down the front of your midsection is your sixpack (rectus abdominis), your side muscles are called obliques and round your back by your spine are your back extensor muscles.
The most important muscle to tone for getting rid of your pooch and your love handles is underneath all of these others; it’s called your TVA and runs round you like a wide belt – this is the one to focus on for a flat belly.
The traditional way to tone the ab muscles has always been to lie supine and squeeze the muscles of the six-pack by trying to raise the head and shoulders off the mat and looking over your bent knees.
However, if you don’t pull in your TVA (remember that’s the one underneath your abs) it will bulge outwards and you will be strengthening your abdominals by making them in the wrong direction – i.e. outwards and not inwards, and you will never get a flat belly!
Pretend your pants are too tight as you are performing your crunch; pulling your tummy in engages your TVA and makes your whole core section work – but don’t forget to breathe or you’ll go purple!
Most people don’t know about engaging their TVA and stabilizing their core – which means that all they are doing when they try to do crunches is pulling their torso up by using the muscles of the neck and back, which are not designed to do this job and can get hurt.
Try using the Ab Rocket and all the conventional crunch problems melt away as the comfortable rollers massage and support your spine while all your core muscles engage for an ab workout that gives fantastic results with no back pain.
